Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS)

Das Institut für Tourismus wurde in 1987 errichtet. Das Hauptziel ist einen hohen Standart an auszubildenden Personal zu garantieren. Die Schule befindet sich in St. Julians, nahe dem St. Georges Bay. Das große Glasdach von der Eingangshalle kann man bereits von weiten sehen. Die Schule ist mit guten Equipment und Lehrkräften ausgestattet. Eine große Kantine, Computerräume und eine Bücherei sollen den Schülern alle Möglichkeiten geben sich in der Schule wohl zu fühlen und ihren Aufgaben nachzugehen.

Folgende Lehrgänge werden angeboten:

• Level 1 Qualification:
• Key Skills for Independent Living and Employment in the Hospitality Sector (This is a specialised course for people with some type of disability, only open to a restricted number of students through a pre-application interview)
• Level 2 Qualifications:
• ESTS Apprenticeship (Students spend 3 days at the institute and 2 days working in the industry)
• Foundation Certificate in Hospitality Trades
• Level 3 Qualifications: (these two courses are a build-up on the previous level)
• Certificate in Hospitality Trades
• Certificate in Food Preparations & Production
• Level 4 Qualifications:
• Diploma in Hotel Operations
• Diploma in Bars & Restaurant Operations
• Diploma in Rooms Division Operations
• Diploma in Culinary Arts
• Diploma in Hospitality Events Management
• Diploma in Sports Tourism & Active Leisure
• Level 5 Qualifications:
• Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management
• Higher National Diploma in Tourism Studies
• Higher National Diploma in Hotel Operations specializing in F&B or Rooms Division
• Higher National Diploma in Culinary Arts
• Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Events Management (this course will start this coming scholastic year 2013/4)
• Higher National Diploma in Sports Tourism and Active Leisure (due to low response this course has been shelved and will not be featured in next years prospectus)
• Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Marketing and E-Business (due to low response this course has been shelved and will not be featured in next years prospectus)
• Higher National Diploma for Tourist Guides
• Level 6 Qualifications:
• BA (Hons) Degrees in Tourism Related Areas University of Malta
